Janet Lee Myatt: Music
Lay My Burden Down
Been pounding at the walls
Of the prison in my mind
Searching for a key
That I will surely never find
The weight of isolation
Weighs heavy on my breast
I cannot do this on my own
I’m tired and need to rest
So now I lay my burden down
I’m gonna trust in you Lord to carry on
My back is broad but I am bound
To lay my burden down
This road is long and dusty
I see mountains yet to climb
The dessert shows no mercy
I have no map to be my guide
It’s beautiful and terrible
And at times I’m mystified
The weight of what I don’t know
Leaves me no place left to hide
So now I lay my burden down
I’m gonna trust in you Lord to carry on
My back is broad but I am bound
To lay my burden down
Give me the strength,
Give me the voice
Give me the wisdom
Take all the noise
Show me that I’m not alone
That what is lost will soon be found
I’ve been seeking so long Lord
I gotta lay this burden down
I’m gonna lay my burden down
I’m gonna trust in you Lord to carry on
My back is broad but I am bound
To lay my burden down
